The Physical Infrastructure Capacity/Cost Engineer will drive the efforts towards managing enterprise and hybrid cloud service capacity. Further, they will demonstrate the ability to appropriately serve and provision On PREM and Cloud capacity in a manner meeting client, and their customers generated demand.


  • Interface with multiple teams of various mission/ business/ technical lanes and express an enterprise vision across all of them.
  • Communicate with the customer and detail not just the Capacity management and Cost solutions, but the business value that a managed Capacity environment will bring.
  • Mentor and train clients, their customers, and our related junior delivery team staff in Capacity management principles.
  • Influence Capacity in conjunction with financial management for IT services to align with capacity planning.
  • Work with the customer to identify patterns of business activity in order to understand the levels of demand that will be placed on a service (as provided by our client). Understand the differences between user profiles (different groups of users and LOBs within client's customers) in order to understand/align service provider business with these customers.
  • Perform Capacity forecasting and scheduling activities for clients, and have the ability to coach clients through the process or similar related requirements gathering and needs forecasting.
  • Be able to classify capacity needs and demand into categories based on characteristics need for Capacity model input.
  • Administering Capacity management tools and models or similar complex modeling.
  • Lead internal team reviews of related work products

+ Basic qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree and 12 years experience or Bachelor's Degree and 14 years experience or Associate's Degree and 16 years or 18 years experience with no Degree.
  • 5 years of related systems engineering experience.
  • 3 years of demonstrated experience in designing and developing complex distributed IT solutions (e.g. cloud, distributed systems or high-performance computing experience)
  • Must possess 2 years experience in the below:
    • Demonstrated experience in cloud computing, specifically in Amazon Web Services (AWS).
    • Familiarity with AWS services, components and pricing. Familiarity/Demonstrated experience with large scale infrastructure (computing, storage and networking) operations, deployment and support.
    • Ability to construct financial cost forecast, comfortable working on Microsoft Excel models and reports.
    • Codifying Data Center Capacity to determine capabilities and resources needed.
    • Administering Capacity management tools (licensing, storage compute and networking capacity), and models or similar complex modeling.
    • Experience leading internal team reviews of cost forecast work products.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated six months to 1 year experience in cloud computing, specifically in Amazon Web Services (AWS), preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with AWS services, components and pricing.
  • Familiarity or demonstrated experience with large scale infrastructure operations, deployment and support.
  • Familiarity or demonstrated experience with enterprise software, computing, storage and network connectivity.
  • Ability to construct financial cost forecast, comfortable working on Microsoft Excel models and reports.

An active security clearance or the ability to obtain one may be required for this role.
