The Financial Improvement and Audit Readiness mission includes establishing and sustaining an audit ready posture, transitioning to an environment to sustain auditability, and achieving an audit support infrastructure. The Financial Accounting Specialist will serve as a member of a large project team and will support the client's financial improvement and audit compliance goals through a variety of work streams. The team member will be required to possess and/or build a working knowledge of audit procedures including documenting business process and creating process cycle memos. Knowledge of financial management and DOD logistics business processes are preferred.
Major responsibilities include the following:
- Creating process flows and cycle memos for various DoD business processes
- Identifying audit risk areas or internal control needs within the processes, and also process optimization areas, and updating the processes to include changes to address the risks or improve the procedures
- Contributing to a training curriculum to implement any new process at the organization's HQ and multiple field sites
- Developing tests of design and effectiveness for internal controls within the documented processes, and performing sample testing to ensure the controls are in place and working properly
