Overview of role

Manages a team of developers in the development and implementation of solutions and applications across the firm. Provides coaching and mentoring to staff in order to deliver quality service and solutions. Monitors and motivates team members work performance through coaching, one on ones, and development planning. Writes and delivers performance reviews.

Contribute to the development, tests, support and deployment tasks for software applications and phases of the entire 84.51° SDLC; including external and internal applications, as well as process improvement activities.

People Management Responsibilities

  • Support mentoring and growth of team through biweekly 1-1s (or more frequent as needed); Performance Feedback discussions, (mid-year, year end, and potentially as necessary as in the scope of the SAFe); Coaching and Development Discussions; Career Pathing
  • Support emerging talent program new hires through mentorship and career direction.
  • Escalate concerns to leadership, as needed, and remove roadblocks for the team
  • Assisting the team(s) in feedback loops and team development
  • Assess, monitor, and promote individual and team skill development programs and practices; identifying skill gaps for future talent needs
  • Support recruitment and resource plan of the team to hire great development talent; including; recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding/training
  • Strategically align team talents to create a culture of learning and development
  • Provide freedom and support so individuals and teams are free to innovate and experiment
Technical/Organizational Responsibilities
  • Execute the vision, goals, priorities and work alongside the team to accomplish them. Ensure high-quality technical solutions and skill development.
  • An advocate for 84.51 delivery methodology.
  • Participate in and contribute to Agile team ceremonies; including: Backlog Reviews, Retrospectives, Architectural Reviews, team and system demos
  • Lead Communities of Practice.
  • Drive the technical aspects of solutions, providing technical guidance and expertise to teams
  • Drives continuous improvement to deliver solutions that are at the forefront of industry leading techniques while also adhering to analytical best practices
  • Work cross functionally to align strategy, methodology and execution
  • Understand, teach, and sponsor technical skills development in support of high quality code components, systems, and solutions
Required Characteristics & Technical Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering or another heavily technical program
  • 5-10 years' experience in a technical role leading/mentoring by example
  • Be a change agent and foster a learn by doing environment
  • Proven ability to execute in a customer focused environment and advocate for customers across a cross-functional organization.
  • Strong software development leadership skills.
  • Exceptional judgment, strategic thinking, and creative problem-solving skills. Strong analytical mind.
  • Comfortable with thinking outside the box and challenging the status quo, respectfully and courageously, to deliver results in a dynamic environment.
  • Knowledgeable and experienced in the following tech skills:

Agile Experience Java used in Web based solutions Spring Boot Angular/React Git

Desired Characteristics & Technical Skills:
  • 2-5 years' experience managing small teams
