1-800-PetMeds employs nearly 200 full-time employees in our offices located in sunny South Florida. Although currently located in Pompano Beach, we will be moving to our beautiful new office in Delray Beach, FL - the "Most Fun Small Town in America" - by year's end. Located just a stone's throw from award-winning  beaches, nightlife, sporting events, shopping and restaurants, Delray Beach has all the charm of a small community with all of the amenities of a big city. The 1-800-PetMeds office is located directly across the street from the Tri-Rail station, providing transportation by train north to West Palm Beach and south to Fort Lauderdale and Miami, with numerous stops in between. Trolley service is also available from the Tri-Rail station to downtown Delray Beach.

In anticipation of staffing our new office beginning this Fall, we are currently accepting applications for the following position:

1-800-PetMeds seeks Registered Pharmacy Technicians to help complete the authorization process for pending prescription orders from veterinarians via fax, mailed-in prescription, or phone calls to vet's offices or clinics. With direction from our team of Licensed Pharmacists, help ensure the accuracy and appropriateness of all prescription orders shipped.

All of our Pharmacy Technicians go through a 2-week training program in which they are paired with one of our designated trainers to learn about the prescription authorization process as well as become familiar with 1-800-PetMed's products, software, policies and procedures. 

Reports to: Pharmacy Manager

Qualification/Requirements

Experience

Minimum 6-months experience as a Pharmacy Technician. Vet office, Vet Tech, pet adoption, dog training, pet grooming, pet retail or any other previous experience working with animals is a HUGE plus! Previous experience in a customer service role also highly desirable.

Although being a Pet Parent is not a job requirement, you absolutely must LOVE pets! In fact, many of our employees who did not previously have pets quickly found themselves with a fur baby of their own soon after joining our team.

Education & Training

Must have a high school diploma or GED

Associate's or Bachelor's degree is a plus

Licensed Registered Pharmacy Technician in good standing in the State of Florida

Skills

Excellent customer service skills (genuinely friendly, courteous and helpful)

Proficient in the use of PCs with good keyboarding skills and able to type at least 35 wpm

Superior communication skills (both written and verbal), with good grammar, voice and diction

Basic math skills and ability to calculate figures and percentages

Ability to read and interpret documents (such as operating manuals, instructions, and policies and procedures)

Personal Attributes

Ability to work a flexible schedule, including 1 weekend day and holidays as needed

Ability to commit to a full-time schedule throughout the year with optional overtime available

Upbeat personality with a genuinely friendly and helpful attitude

Able to overcome objections and remain positive

Patient and respectful team player who is willing to do what it takes to support the rest of the group

Ability to work in an office environment, sitting for long periods

Prefer working in a fun, casual, upbeat environment with lots of autonomy (and plenty of support)
