Katie learned of Voxy while working as a researcher at the University of Maryland. Aware of her expertise in the use of technology for language learning, a venture capitalist called Katie to ask if an early version of Voxy was worth funding. Though hesitant to leave academia, Katie couldn’t say no to a job offer at Voxy.

Voxy’s core, task-based pedagogy and language-learning content are based on Katie’s research in second language acquisition, mobile technology, adult learning, and cognitive science. She feels fortunate to have a job which aligns so perfectly with her research specialty. As Voxy continues to grow, Katie is excited for the company to innovate more with technology.
