Michael’s Story
From Finance To Fellow
As a finance major at the University of Pennsylvania, Michael’s original plan was to enter investment banking in New York after graduation. But when he found Venture for America through campus recruiting, he was blown away by the team and meaningful mission—and he became one of VFA’s inaugural fellows.

During his fellowship, Michael worked in New Orleans as a Chief Of Staff and eventually Marketing Manager of a market research startup, Federated Sample. In addition to working on multiple executive projects for Federated Sample, he also co-founded a nonprofit with another fellow called Startup Effect—utilizing the entrepreneurial mindset they developed through VFA.

“VFA prepared me to think like an entrepreneur—to think about how I want to change things, how I want to make things better, how I would do things on my own.”

“After work, I’d go home and hang out with the other New Orleans fellows—we were a really close-knit family down there, and we spent a lot of time together.”
