It was during his junior year in college at Ithaca that John was first introduced to the education field. He worked at an academic summer program—and instantly knew where his career was headed. John went on to earn a master’s degree at the University of Pennsylvania in a program focused on teaching in urban settings.
John gets to school early every morning to ensure the building is ready for the day. His first duty is greeting students as they get off their buses—the highlight of his day. He spends the rest of his day managing critical aspects of the school, like the budget, student enrollment, and more.
“This job is phenomenal. The opportunities to interact with students on a regular basis while supporting teachers and working with families is just tremendous. I don’t think there’s any other job in the world where you’d get to interact with so many different groups, so that’s really amazing.”
“Uncommon is very transparent, and that goes along with our approach to professional development and coaching. We’re always willing to tell folks what they’re doing well, but more importantly, what they can do better and how they can grow.”
