Nathan’s Story
Atypical Tech Star
Nathan’s path to software engineering wasn’t typical. After studying economics and following a pre-medicine track in college, Nathan opted instead to join Teach For America in Florida. Along with arithmetic, Nathan taught students computer science, which introduced him to the field, inspired him to get a second degree, and encouraged him apply to Ultimate’s TechSTARS internship program.

Though he’s part of the Onboarding Development Team, Nathan’s main goal is simplifying the entire experience, with a mix of front- and back-end challenges. Flexibility to switch between software development and QA also gives him top-level oversight of onboarding needs, which come in handy when it’s time to create things like a unified desktop with a systematic look and feel across products.

“When I first moved to the area, I wanted to work for a company with a great culture and impressive output. As I talked to people, Ultimate was the name that kept coming up.”
