LOVES A CHALLENGE
Raj was earning his master’s degree in chemical engineering at Columbia University when he met the Chief Administrative Officer of TerraCycle. He was intrigued by the goals of TerraCycle—and how he could address the most challenging issues of waste materials. Raj applied for an internship, then decided to stay on because he enjoys the work so much.

R&D ASSOCIATE SCIENTIST
Raj’s role is to think about what happens to the material that isn’t normally recyclable—and find ways to recycle it. His job involves analyzing composition and polymer blends to determine economically effective ways to formulate recycled polymer products from waste materials. Raj takes challenging items like cigarette butts, adhesives, and nitrile gloves—and developes recycling outlets.

“Every day, there’s a new challenge, because no two recycling mainstreams are the same. Every day, you develop news solutions for different streams—and I like that constant innovation.”
