At Success Academy, schools don’t focus on the negative with time-outs. Instead, scholars earn what they call “time-in,” which is a reward for showing great effort or for meeting a new goal. When they earn “time-in,” they get to choose a fun activity to do together with any teacher or school staff member.
There is always a reason to celebrate at Success Academy Charter Schools. For example, Halloween is a staff and scholar favorite—the students dress in costume, and families are invited to partake in all the fun. Another great event is Field Day, in which the school goes all out with outdoor activities and snacks like snow cones, cotton candy, and popcorn.
“In order to be successful here, you need to be someone who is self-reflective and understands that it’s okay to ask for help when you need it—and then be able to put in the work to implement feedback to improve.”
