While studying psychology at the University of Toronto, Maryanne found herself at Public Outreach the summer after her freshman year. She was intrigued by the opportunity to meet a diverse range of personalities as a street fundraiser. It was the perfect way to take her degree out of the classroom and into the real world.
Having started out as a street fundraiser, Maryanne is uniquely positioned to manage a team of them. While the majority of her day is spent training and mentoring her staff, she also finds time to do some fundraising herself. She loves thinking of new ways to engage people in supporting the organizations that Public Outreach works with.
“There are so many areas within Canada and beyond where human rights are violated, so I count myself lucky to be able to actually communicate about these issues to individuals and be part of global movements that are actually making a difference.”
“As managers we get very excited when someone new comes and make it our personal mission to pass on our knowledge and our wisdom and give you tips to guide you along the path because we've all been there.”
