Ashley attended Judson University and graduated with a bachelors’ in accounting, along with the 150 hours required to sit for her CPA exam. She was referred to Porte Brown through her college professor and started working at the company in June 2015—and passed her CPA exam that October.
Ashley’s workflow revolves around monthly and quarterly needs. She completes sales tax returns as the 20th of the month approaches, performs payroll tax returns for her clients as the quarter ends, and prepares and issues financial statements every month. Ashley also conducts research for multi-state agencies and works with partners from departments participating in compliance audits.
“One of the most challenging things about my job is being able apply technical accounting knowledge into real-world applications that have a big impact on clients. Being able to answer clients’ questions and seeing how grateful they are to be better equipped to enhance their business leaves me feeling good about what I do.”
“You need drive to be successful here. This is not the place to work if you just want a 9-5 job. This is a great place where you can do well and have an actual career in accounting. You need to have drive for yourself and for your firm to succeed.”
