The Love of Reading
Challenged by fans of The Percy Jackson and the Olympians book series, the Plato Learning team set out to create a real-world version of the fictional training ground for modern-day heroes of Greek Mythology—Camp Half-Blood. The team created a space for kids to live rich, full lives beyond the pages of books. Eight years and three programs later, Plato Learning has served nearly 3,000 children with a unique brand of fun and enrichment.
What Plato Learning Does
Plato Learning 101
Plato Learning hosts after-school and summer camp programs that bring books to life using a curriculum that blends reading with physical engagement, story-making, art, and design thinking. The overarching goal of the organization is to develop long-term literary interest and skills in children.
February's snowstorm presented an unexpected opportunity to deliver on a long-standing promise of a snowball fight between staff and campers. A call went out, and less than 24 hours later, about 40 kids and the fun-loving Plato Team gathered at Prospect Park for the epic battle. This is just one example of the company's contagious and inspiring can-do attitude.

Adventure Powered by Story: From 2010 until today we’ve remained steadfast in our quest to turn stories over to the imaginations of young people who infuse them with energy, power and ingenuity, reminding us all how and why we fall in love with reading.
"At Plato Learning, I'm empowered to help build the summer camp experience that I could only dream of as a child. I feel so fortunate to be a part of creating such vivid and imaginative adventures, which ultimately help kids develop a love for stories."
"We operate in a unique space where we have the privilege of interacting with children on their terms and turf, free of the restrictions that come with traditional teacher-student dynamics. The joy our kids experience is a constant reminder that with great privilege comes great responsibility."
