Skylar graduated from Duke University as a double biomedical and computer engineering major. She later attended the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign to further her computer engineering education. After working at Microsoft in Seattle, she wanted to enter the startup world. Skylar joined Periscope because she was very impressed with the transparent culture and people.
Skylar does more than write software in Java, SQL, and Ruby on Rails at Periscope. She’s a company leader, spearheading the Engineering Team’s Code Club—a laid-back group of technologists who discuss unconventional tech and engineering practices. Skylar also writes technical blog posts on the company’s official blog during her spare time.
“Collaboration is key to being successful at Periscope. We think of our Engineering Teams as one entity, not as people competing against one another on the same team.”
“What I’m most excited about at Periscope is how we’ve changed since I came onboard. It’s more about seeing the transition, having my input being valuable to the process, and learning firsthand how a company grows.”
