Paula majored in psychology and communication arts with a focus in theater. She originally wanted to attend graduate school to become a journalist, but soon realized that wasn’t her true calling. Instead, Paula met with an advisor who suggested she apply her passion for working with people to a career in human resources. She graduated school and worked in the field for many years before coming to Oak Island Creative.
Paula manages, plans, and directs the employee relations function of Oak Island Creative. She acts as a vital link between management and employees and goes to great lengths to ensure that team members and their families feel supported by the company. Paula also oversees recruiting, hiring, and onboarding new talent, and provides input on how to strategically develop and grow the company.
“Passion plays a significant role in my job. My role is to do everything I can do to make people excited about their job and feel rewarded for their hard work. I get passionate about making things easier for our employees so they can go out and create amazing things.”
Having a creative or artistic background—whether it’s building great pieces of art, cars, designing dresses, or being on stage—gives a good understanding behind why we do what we do. We want to create magic for our guests.”
