John began building haunted houses in his parents’ basement, but his passion soon grew too big to keep at home, so he began building attractions on the family farm. He later spent some time in the military, but decided his passion lay in creating things for other people to experience and enjoy—so he founded Oak Island Creative.
John spends most of his time developing long-term strategy and vision for the company. He especially focuses on evolving new creative ideas the company can put together for its clients and the firm’s internal equity brands. John always keeps Oak Island’s purpose and mission at heart when thinking about new ways for employees to channel their passions into creating incredible experiences for guests.
“The ideal person to come work here is someone who has a calling to the work. Listen to your calling, whether you’re an artist or a musician, and my hope is that you can fulfill that purpose here.”
“My advice to anyone coming in for an interview is to put in the maximum effort. When we started this company, no one knew how to create a Christmas event, or a product line, or a great marketing and branding campaign. We all felt like we had a purpose, gave it our all, and achieved many milestones.”
