Wesley’s Story
Shooting For The Stars
Since he was a kid, Wesley has been infatuated with aerospace and aircraft. Once he was in college, he majored in engineering physics with a specialization in space, and he fell in love with the space industry. After graduating, he got a job as a satellite controller which taught him the ropes of operating a spacecraft—expertise that he now brings to his engineering role at O3b.

What Wesley Does
Real-Time Engineer
Because the Real-Time Engineers work 24/7, Wesley starts his day at 7:30 AM by relieving the previous engineer and discussing the events of the night before and what’s planned for the day. During his shift, Wesley’s main goal is to make sure the satellites stay healthy, which he does by sending up commands to the spacecraft, carrying out mission operations, reviewing anomalies, and looking through telemetry for signs of any possible problems.

"We work quickly and problems can come out of nowhere since we're an operating company, so you have to be prepared to handle anything as it comes."

"I try to find patterns and data—I get to look for things that no one else might see and I absolutely love that."
