MDA teams have a tradition of ending meetings with what they call “mission moments.” Employees take turns sharing a story about an experience they’ve had that exemplifies the organization’s mission. Sometimes the stories are born out of interactions with families MDA serves or volunteers who support the cause—either way, they inspire staff to work hard.
Families are at the heart of MDA’s mission. Staff wake up every morning to create more hope and answers for families living with muscular dystrophy and related disease that take away physical strength and mobility. MDA does this by finding research breakthroughs, caring for kids and adults, and empowering families with services and support.
“One of the things that I’m most excited about is that in the next five years, we’ll be funding and finding more treatments and cures than we have in the last five decades. To be a part of that success and be at the cutting edge of change has really been exciting to me.”

“We have a great benefits package, but there’s a lot more to a work environment than just the benefits package. It’s being able to have an environment that promotes employees’ interests and feedback—and takes into consideration the well-being of each employee.”
