After studying economics at the University of Minnesota, Mike moved to LA to pursue a theater career. He helped other actors build websites on the side before joining a New York startup. After three years, he joined Sequel Media Group—and then VICE, as a Team Lead—before finding a position at Hearst.

As a full-stack software engineer, Michael's main goal is to build both the front-end and back-end of Hearst’s web applications. He specifically works on simplifying the content management systems that Hearst’s editors and writers use to manage creative assets and create content. Michael's days revolve around development cycles, sprint planning, and code review.
