While studying animation at the DigiPen Institute of Technology, Nnenna discovered her passion was for developing characters. After graduation, Nnenna learned that Funko was seeking sculptors and jumped at the opportunity, appreciative that her first job out of school ended up being with the perfect company.
Nnenna starts her day by opening up ZBrush and starts sculpting her characters before passing it along for approval from the Art Department and the licensor. Whether she’s sculpting or designing concepts for other sculptors, Nnenna always has something fun on the horizon—like working on Funko’s Lord of the Rings set.
“I love the projects and characters I’m working on. Usually it’s something I grew up with, or it’s something I’ve been waiting to see turn into a TV show or a movie. It’s really cool to be a part of that process.”
“I love everything Jim Henson. He’s one of my inspirations for becoming an artist, so being able to work on the Dark Crystal project—and see how happy it’s made people—was really amazing.”
