While working for the New York Times, Alex’s former colleague moved to Etsy to join the Design team and approached Alex about coming over to start a Research Team. Alex joined Etsy and became increasingly interested about the company culture and work environment. Etsy’s commitment to social values—and how that was reflected in its employees—convinced Alex that he made the right decision.
The User Experience Team conducts user experience research and market research to understand potential users—and designs systems to develop standards and processes that ensure experiences on Etsy feel cohesive. Though the work is always in progress, Alex enjoys seeing how Etsy’s website and subsequent user experiences have evolved over the years.
“As a manager, what gets me excited is trying to create an environment where people can do work that they find meaningful.”
“There’s a lot of effort on helping employees develop their skill sets. We want to set up people for success in their careers, whether that’s being at Etsy for a long period of time or moving on once you’re ready.”
