When she was looking to transition her career, Amanda knew exactly where to look. A friend working at a Democracy Prep school couldn’t stop talking about how great her job was. When an opening became available for a Registrar, Amanda went to visit the school—and fell in love with the students and the school’s mission.
Every morning, Amanda starts her day greeting scholars and their families as they arrive at school. The rest of her day is spent taking care of the facility and doing everything possible to ensure that teaching can happen seamlessly. One of her proudest career moments thus far was getting the entire school building painted.
“I love that we’re able to be open and honest with each other. Everyone is here to make sure our scholars get through college, so nobody takes feedback negatively.”
“Every staff member in this building is a teacher in some respect. If I see a scholar out in the hallway that needs help, I don’t hesitate to go out, and the same goes for all of the team members who don’t work directly in the classroom.”
