Curacao, simply put, is a welcoming and diverse company. Curacao’s managers reflect this altruistic attitude by maintaining an open-door policy—and in their willingness to mentor junior employees who express an interest in growing within the company. In return, Curacao employees are expected to show professionalism and commitment to their work, as they’re never micromanaged.
Ron and Jerry Azarkman, two brothers living in Los Angeles in the late ‘70s, recognized that Southern California’s Hispanic immigrant population was an untapped—and underserved—market. Hoping to serve this demographic, the Azarkmans opened Curacao’s first retail location in 1983. Since then, Curacao has catered to Spanish-speaking clientele with initiatives like offering credit—and by hiring bilingual employees.
