Jasdeep grew up with big dreams of being an accountant—but despite this, decided to pursue a major in computer science. After college, this led him to work at a few different digital creative agencies, and later to take on gigs as a freelancer. While freelancing, Jasdeep found an online job posting for charity: water—and he knew immediately that it was exactly the change he’d been looking for.
What Jasdeep Does
Beginning his day at 9:30 AM, Jasdeep likes to tackle the hardest tasks first. These tasks often include preparing donor reports, where donor data and donations to each project are tracked, so donors can actually see how their individual dollars are being used. Jasdeep also works closely with charity: water’s email marketing manager to enable the organization to maintain its mission of 100% transparency.
“The work that we do here has a very important mission behind it. There’s a very strong purpose.”
“We put a GPS device on drilling rig in Ethiopia and tweet its coordinates back to donors who helped fund it. It’s cool because we’re getting people water, but it’s also a very technically interesting project involving lots of APIs.”
