A Lifelong Passion
Since he was a small boy, Ernest always enjoyed building things. Born and raised in Nairobi, Kenya, Ernest and his family migrated to the U.S., and in 2010, he attended Boise State University. He followed his undergraduate education with graduate school at Lehigh University, where he received his master’s in structural engineering.

Ernest creates designs and analysis reports for structures of all shapes and sizes. About half of his day involves meeting with clients to touch base on the progress of each project and discuss client needs and concerns. Having good people skills is important in Ernest’s job, as he must be able to understand his clients’ expectations to deliver a quality product.

We had to figure out how to lay the new foundations for our project, but to do so, we had to go back in history to rediscover the original framing plans for the current Boeing site. There was a kind of kinship between what the original engineer did and how we modified his design.”
