Starting a company at 16 in his native Berlin, Robert’s entrepreneurial adventures took him across the world, eventually to Hong Kong—gaining business degrees along the way. His youth was spent trading penny stocks, which paved the way for his career in finance. After starting off as a Fixed Income analyst in Taiwan, Robert turned down offers from other firms to join the team that defines BlackRock's business strategy and to work in an inclusive, LGBTQ-friendly culture.
As BlackRock’s overseas offices gain more local autonomy, it’s become more and more important for associates like Robert to truly understand regional culture, language, and regulatory environments. Focused on the immense opportunities that the region has to offer, Robert’s cultural sensitivity and Mandarin fluency is essential as he analyzes potential markets and devises strategies to grow within them.
