While studying computer science and engineering at the University of Michigan, Lauren served as President of the National Society of Black Engineers. Being accustomed to meeting with casual West Coast companies, she was initially puzzled when she wore jeans to dine with BlackRock's besuited NYC recruiters, but won them over anyway, along with an internship.

Rotating every six months to master skills from web development to full-stack engineering, Lauren is part of BlackRock’s Technology Division, the Aladdin Product Group. APG develops innovative software and strategies to build the world’s preeminent investment management system for BlackRock and leading financial institutions worldwide.
