Growing up, Javier knew he wanted to work with mathematics, but he wasn’t sure how. He started his career as a mathematician and learned computer research and security as an analyst for the Department of Defense. As cyber security blossomed, so did Javier’s skill set, and he eventually found his way to Area 1 Security.
Javier’s responsibilities include tracking threat groups to document what they’re doing, identifying targets, and developing products to counteract a cyber attack. A typical day includes checking intrusions in Area 1’s data sets, analyzing malware, and identifying unknown signatures. Javier’s overall goal is to analyze threat groups and work with his team to make that information useful.
