Passion For Policy
Sean studied political science at Villanova and subsequently earned a master’s degree in public policy at Georgetown University. Afterwards, he spent about eight years on Capitol Hill doing an array of policy work, and ended up specializing in science policy—which he then translated into his job at AAAS in science and technology policy.

What Sean Does
Senior Government Relations Officer
Since Sean's work is largely project-based and changes every week, priorities for his current project are what steer his day. Whether Sean is organizing a Capitol Hill briefing or helping usher a project with a couple of different societies, he’s working toward furthering AAAS’ mission by helping society and the public at large better understand the value of science.

"My manager will let me do whatever I can so long as the priorities that we've set as a team are being met. So if my time allows it, I can pursue a project I want that I find personally fulfilling, which I really appreciate."
