After finishing a PhD in operations research at MIT, Ping joined Amazon right away. Aside from the company’s household name and well-known opportunities, she loved that Amazon enabled her to succeed as a minority and a woman in technology. Now that she leads a team, Ping’s gained a new set of female peers who share her experience and help her redefine leadership.
Ping thinks about how to use algorithms to solve business problems all day. Her team consists of statisticians and machine learning scientists. The team builds algorithms that forecast demand for tens of millions of products per day, using huge volumes of past data, such as customer transactions, product characteristics, and prices.
