Marissa’s Story
A Common Goal
After earning a degree in music education, Marissa found work in a district public school in Connecticut. She worked there for five years before relocating to New York and joining Achievement First. She loves that everyone she works with—fellow deans, teachers, and network support staff—are all committed to helping students have the best possible educational experience.

What Marissa Does
Dean of School Culture
As a dean at Achievement First, one of Marissa’s main responsibilities is coaching. She performs classroom observations every day, then meets with teachers to practice new techniques. In addition to coaching, some of the work Marissa has found most valuable so far is working to ensure that school systems are aligned to the school's core values.
