To give you a sense of what working for Skout is like, we’ll walk you through what would happen right after you got that call saying, “Congrats! You’re hired.”
First, Skout is extremely willing to help new employees relocate. The company has an amazing location in the heart of San Francisco (can you say Bay Bridge views?). Danail Delchev, lead Android designer, says he’s super grateful for the support and accommodation he got when moving to the city.
So now you’ve got a new home—and a new office as well. On your first day, Skout sets you up with some spankin’ new Apple products. You take a tour of the light-filled offices, noting the lack of cubicles, the executive team’s desks right out on the floor with everyone else, the comfortable couches, the stocked kitchen, and, of course, the ongoing ping-pong tournaments.
Marketing manager Jade Worobec says, “There’s always something new to learn here, and everyone is genuinely having fun. You can go from working really hard on a project to arguing about sheep while playing a game of Settlers of Catan.”
Camilo Vera Bezmalinovic, senior iOS designer, says he gets pretty competitive. He calls Skout’s culture “pretty unique,” explaining, “To be able to not have a dress code, to work on a couch, to have beer after work, makes you feel so comfortable that it almost feels like home.”
After a couple weeks at the company, you’ve made some great friends. Skout is always hosting fun events for its team, from city-wide scavenger hunts and happy hours to staff-wide lunches and trips to Napa and Tahoe.
Even though you’re new, you know you’ll have a ton of opportunity at Skout. The company likes to promote from within, rather than hiring externally, to preserve its family culture. Community marketing manager Nikki Castellanos says “I know that if I work really hard, ask the right questions, and put myself out there, I have the ability to move up at Skout and be successful.”
A couple months later, you’re traveling to Skout’s offices in Bulgaria or Chile and having the time of your life.
But before all of that can happen, you have to get the job. So check out Skout’s offices, then make that future a reality.
