Video Pick: There’s Nothing Like a Real Book
E-readers are pretty cool. They relieve a girl like me—your standard bibliophile who lives in small spaces and moves a lot—the burden of wrestling with huge bookshelves and back-breaking boxes full of books. They’re convenient for daily commutes. They make travel reading a breeze. They’re a great idea, in theory.
But I’ll admit, I bought a Kindle—and sold it after using it for a month.
We read so much on screen these days that it can be easy to forget that there’s really nothing like a real book—to feel the weight of ideas, to marvel at the beautiful binding, to excitedly turn the pages. So, here’s a two-minute reminder. If you’re a book-lover like me (or even if you’re just craving a little midday break), check out this stop-motion video. You’ll marvel at not only the fact that someone actually put this together—yes, someone actually flipped over, opened, and closed every one of those books—but also at the power of the (actually) printed word.
