For certain aspects of work, gamification is awesome. Challenging different departments to outrival each other in sales can be a great motivator. Turning a mundane task like answering email into a game can make the task much less painful (and yes, there’s an app for that).
But for other aspects, it’s not so great. Turns out, employees really, really don’t want recognition from their boss to have a gamification element.
