Being told to talk about ourselves feels kind of weird. After all, most of the time it’s the opposite message: Listen more than you speak . Give the other person uninterrupted conversation time. Ask lots of questions.
All great advice, but somewhere along the way, we’ve stopped self-promoting and started assuming our results will do the talking for us. Consequently, we’re losing out on recognition from co-workers, bosses, and industry leaders—and lots of money.
