Matchup 1: Maggie May vs. Sophie
Maggie May From Tasting Table : 4-Year-Old Old English Bulldog
Maggie May is the most mellow of the Tasting Table bunch, and can often be found sprawled out underneath someone's desk acting as a real-life foot warmer. She's also the company's #1 taste-tester, making sure that all of TT's recipes are up to snuff before the team gives its final stamp of approval!
Sophie From Twilio : 7-Year-Old Dachshund
As the active Twilio mascot, Sophie can be found circulating the office ensuring the highest quality of work is being executed. If anyone's performance is in question, she'll be quick to jump on a lap to discuss it. She also spends time examining the view from the top of each piece of furniture in the office, sprinting laps through the event space, and managing kitchen floor cleanup duty after lunchtime.
Matchup 2: Vern vs. Bill Murray
Vern From Bitly : 2-Year-Old Mutt, Rescued From Puerto Rico
Vern, Bitly's Pawgress Manager, spends her working days making sure everyone drops food on the ground, gives her belly rubs, and knows when the mailman arrives. She revels in giving Chauncey the Pufferfish a run for his money as the official Bitly mascot. Very attached to her mom, the office manager, she's always underfoot (unless, of course, someone is eating in the kitchen).
Bill Murray From StackSocial : Chiweenie (Half Chihuahua, Half Dachshund)
Bill Murray is a rising star in the Los Angeles startup community. He's currently the Director of Naps at StackSocial, but has his eye on the CNO (Chief Napping Officer) position. He's been a pioneer in finding new, exciting, and comfy areas to sleep. From anyone's lap to the couch, from the giant bean bag to odd places in the middle of the floor, he is dedicated to optimizing the snoozing experience. His other interests include chewing on toys, army crawling the entire length of the office, looking quite debonair in his little hoodie, and following his dad into meetings, offices, and bathrooms.
Matchup 3: Honey vs. Louie P.
Honey From Bigcommerce : 11-Year-Old French Bulldog
Honey was adopted from a rescue six years ago. She just joined Bigcommerce's new San Francisco office, where so far her duties include lounging on the oversized bean bag chairs, saying hello via webcam to teammates in Austin and Sydney, stealing ping pong balls, reminding others to be polite and share their string cheese, and perfecting her Sad Keanu face. Why the Sad Keanu face? She's impatiently waiting for Bigcommerce to fill the office with about 40 awesome engineers and product managers. So while the team is interviewing and hiring the best talent in San Francisco, Honey is working on becoming a certified Reiki master.
Louie P. From Chartbeat : 15-Month-Old Mini Goldendoodle
Louie Thursdays are a staple at Chartbeat. With a tail wag at the door and a "Good Morning!" that sounds a lot like "WOOF," Louie makes sure everyone gets their days started off right! When he's not making mischief, melting hearts, or lounging around in the Chartbeat Puppytorium, you can find him nerding out on his own startup, The Data for Dogs Project, with his co-founder and fellow Chartpup, Champ.
Matchup 4: Homer vs. Frank
Homer From Basis : 1-Year-Old American Labrador
Homer is the Chief Affection Officer for Basis, heading up Canine Resources. Homer ensures everyone on the Basis team gets an adequate dose of playfulness, stress relief, and 70 pounds of love and cuteness every day. With his Labrador sports edition physique, he motivates folks to chase after him when he's successfully gone dumpster diving for snacks. When he's not exercising, he seeks affection by sleeping on laps. Homer's always sought elected office, so please vote for him in this dog-election!
Frank From Mashable : (Almost) 3-Year-Old Morkie
As Mashable's Chief Morale Officer, Frank has a packed schedule of sleeping, receiving belly rubs, and begging for office snacks.
Matchup 5: Rico Suavé Gelfo vs. Butters
Rico Suavé Gelfo From Findr Group : 4-Year-Old Miniature Schnauzer
As Chief Canine Efficiency Officer, Rico brings with him great experience in human manipulation, exercise, and efficiency in cleanliness of work areas. While in the office, Rico ensures that no team member leaves papers, shoes, or other objects on the floor. When paper is found, his keen sense and love of parades drives him to shred paper in case of the urgent need for ticker tape.
Butters From The Muse : 4-Year-Old French Bulldog
Butters is The Muse's CCC (Chief Cat Chaser). He sleeps all day and is extremely passionate about food. He is constantly pitching article ideas to The Daily Muse editorial team, including, "How to Tell Your Co-worker to Stop Farting in the Office," "The 8-Hour Sleep-Work Day," "If You Wait Long Enough, Master Will Drop Food on The Floor," and "5 Fun Ways to Chase a Vacuum."
Matchup 6: Clementine vs. Darwin
Clementine From SeatGeek : 18-Month-Old Miniature Long Haired Dachsund
Every morning at SeatGeek, team members stand up in a circle and go over what they'll be working on that day. Joining all two-legged members of the team is four-legged Coder-in-Chief, Clementine! Clementine is an office staple in SeatGeek's NYC headquarters, always eager to join in meetings and provide visitors' ankles with a warm (and wet) puppy smooch upon arrival. The only time Clementine isn't allowed to roam free is during SeatGeek's weekly team lunch—because no one can resist sharing bits of their meals with her under the table!
Darwin From Yelp : 10-Year-Old Vizsla
Meet Darwin, Yelp's unofficial mascot. This lovable canine greets Yelpers every morning with a woof and wagging tail. When he's not perusing the Yelp trash bins or napping in the sun, he's learning how to code Python (with a little bit of Java on the side). Keep an eye out for him on the Yelp app and at
Matchup 7: Charlie vs. Zaya
Charlie Chester Kim From Venture for America : Morkie
Charlie is an honorary Venture for America team member, providing moral support and ensuring the office is all smiles when he's here. If you're on a stressful call or in a long meeting, Charlie is there to hop your lap and make sure you stay calm and engaged. Charlie helps maintain a healthy office wellness culture and encourages Venture for America's fellows to practice a healthy work-life balance.
Zaya From Cloudred : 7-Month-Old Beagle Mix
Zaya's days at Cloudred are filled with lots of meetings with her boss, Mac, Cloudred's Chief Morale Officer (CMO). Together, they nail down the best tug of war strategy and discuss various advantages of bouncy ball. After all this hard work, there's just enough time in the day left for a peanut butter snack and cozy nap in someone's lap.
Matchup 8: Goose vs. Lennie
Goose From onefinestay : 2-Year-Old Sealyham Terrier
onefinestay expects that its team members are expert relationship-builders, so it comes as no surprise that Goose is one of the top dogs on the team. Having met over a thousand new hosts and pawed her way around London's mansions and mewses, she never fails to charm (unless you're a cat, squirrel, or anything that lives in a pond).
Lennie From Umbel : 3-Year-Old Bulldog/Pitbull Mix
Lennie doesn't always work in the office, but when he does, he's looking sharp in his bow-tie. While in the office, he'll help out by serenading co-workers with piggy noises and loud snoring.
As Social Media and Community Manager, Brooke is intrigued by (okay, obsessed with) all things social. She has been Musing since right after she graduated from Smith College, beginning first as an intern. When Brooke isn’t conjuring up new Tweets, she can be found trying out new foods, wishing she had a Boston Terrier, and Instagramming. Say hi on Twitter @beetorr.More from this Author
