“At myWebRoom, I’m able to just come here and feel like I’m at home working on a project that I love,” says Ling Lim, who creates beautiful and innovative designs for the company.
She’s not the only team member who raves about the “home sweet home” vibe.
“Immediately, when I walked into the office, there was chill music playing and one of the founders encouraged me to wear slippers—that made me feel right at home,” says Lianne Krusemark, visual content manager.
According to Kristen Bierwith, myWebRoom’s digital marketing manager, everyone refers to each other as “roommates,” not colleagues. And everyone—from the CEO to the newest intern—is equally respected and listened to.
“Some of our most productive and brilliant ideas come from our brainstorm sessions—so you really have to be comfortable with the people you’re working with and be willing to explore new ideas,” explains Krusemark.
The emphasis on community is reflected in how myWebRoom does, well, almost everything. Each week, the team gathers for “Booze and Reviews,” a time for them to showcase their accomplishments and give credit to the roommates who have helped. myWebRoom employees also take breaks for crafting, movie nights, trips to Tahoe, yoga and workout sessions, and San Francisco explorations. When they’re in the office, the team likes to break bread together. Every day they enjoy daily smoothie deliveries, and every Friday, they all sit down to try foods from all over the world.
However, the company is also more than willing to accommodate different schedules.
David Britton, chief technology officer, says, “Everybody is connected wherever they go, and our people can work practically wherever they need to.”
