Want to work in education? A fellowship at Education Pioneers, a leading national nonprofit, is your dream opportunity.
“Education Pioneers is the bridge in the gap between wanting to work in education but not knowing how, and actually going and doing it,” says Will Kenney, a former analyst fellow for Education Pioneers.
The company’s mission is to identify, train, connect, and inspire a new generation of education leaders. To do this, Education Pioneers connects its fellows with 200-plus leading education organizations across the country.
“In many ways, Education Pioneers is a huge, 10-month crash course,” Kenney says.
As a fellow, you’ll have tons of support. As part of the program, fellows are partnered with alumni (like Kenney!), who frequently get together with fellows for mentorship and guidance. Fellowship cohorts usually grow close, even though they’re spread across America.
“My cohort has 60 fellows,” explains one former fellow, Nana Xu. “They’re brilliant and engaging—they challenge me and they inspire me.”
Besides an amazing support system, EP fellowships also offer training, information, and the chance to learn in unique ways. One cohort took a trip to Rikers Island to work with the sentenced population and brainstorm ways to prepare them for college after they’re released. Another group is planning an Education Hackathon in Silicon Valley that will harness technology to fix education’s systemic problems.
