Happy Birthday Julia Child! A Dinner to Make in Her Honor
One hundred years ago today, the great Julia Child was born. While she is no longer with us, we're celebrating her incredible influence on the culinary world (and ability to make really delicious food) by whipping up a dinner in her honor.
Our friends over at YumSugar have adapted some of her recipes to make sure that any budding chef can make them. So, put on your apron, practice your best Julia impression, and make this delicious three-course meal tonight. Just make sure to toast Julia with a rousing "bon appétit" before you dive in!
First Course: Potato Leek Soup
Start your meal off with this classic and creamy potato leek soup. If you're in the dog-days of summer heat, you can also enjoy this soup vichyssoise-style (a.k.a. chilled!). Just pop it in the freezer for 20 minutes or so before enjoying. Find the recipe here!

Second Course: Crispy Chicken
Next, roast a chicken to crisped perfection using some of Julia Child's secrets. For a great side dish, try a favorite dish of Amy Adams from the movie Julie and Julia—brussel sprouts bathed in butter (is there any other way?). Click here for the chicken recipe!
Third Course: Chocolate Almond Cake
For dessert, make a birthday cake for Julia! This fudgy chocolate cake should fit the bill—and we won't even judge you if you want to stick some candles in it for fun. Find the recipe here!
