Walk into the GrubHub offices, and you can’t help but feel good.
The company, which brings easy online and mobile food ordering to urban eaters, has a warm and welcoming culture that’s instantly obvious. “You can tell that you’re in an open and inviting place just by the layout of our desks and conference rooms,” says Kerry Hoffman, product analyst.
Then there’s the massive ping pong table. GrubHub is proud of its table tennis obsession: From afternoon matches to annual tournaments, people are always gathered around the table talking, laughing, and of course, having a little healthy competition.
Employees find other ways to relax as well. “Our culture club holds weekly events like bingo, trivia, and table tennis tournaments to keep you occupied if you happen to get a little crazy with coding every day,” says Noel Curtis, software engineer.
Hoffman agrees, saying, “One of our values here is to be very playful.”
But GrubHub team members don’t just apply this adventurous spirit to ping pong and game night; they’re encouraged to explore new ideas and come up with off-beat solutions in their day-to-day work. “Our team is comprised of smart, collaborative people; we have a very innovative environment,” Curtis says.
