At This Company, It's Totally OK Not to Be Perfect
It’s said there are two types of people in the world: those with “fixed” mindsets and those with “growth” mindsets.
If you’re in the fixed category, you think that your intelligence, personality, and capabilities are un-changing. If you’re in the growth category, you believe you can develop your talents by learning from your mistakes, adapting, and practicing.
Guess which category of people work at Medallia?
“Every morning, we get up and think about what we’ve done, what we’ve learned, and how can we do better,” says Amy Pressman, co-founder.
According to Tung Vo, the senior director of engineering, finding team members who share these values is really important.
“We actually have a dedicated person who solely looks at candidates from a cultural aspect,” he explains.
When new employees are onboarded, a lot of time is spent explaining it’s totally okay not to be perfect. In fact, the imperfection zone is where a lot of the magic happens.
“The critical thing for me was how unique Medallia is in encouraging learning and in encouraging people to be comfortable with trying new things,” says Shwetha Shankar, senior manager of implementations.
If you’ve got a growth mindset, check out Medallia’s offices, then go get your next job.
