Comcast is the largest broadcasting and cable provider in the world—and with multiple businesses in radio, TV, movies, sports, theme parks, and more, it’s impossible for its clients to ever get bored.
So we’re not surprised that life as a Comcast employee is really exciting. You know how people say, “No day is ever the same?” We hate using clichés, but that phrase so perfectly defines the Comcast office we’ll use it anyway. Since the company has such a diverse range of products—not to mention millions of customers—it’s not only possible but probable that you’ll find yourself working on the Olympics one day and developing an innovative new product the next.
“One of the really interesting things about Comcast is having so many different companies within the Comcast Corporation. There is room to move—not just up but laterally,” says Leslie Chapman, a software engineer.
You’ll also get the chance to pursue your own projects. Three times a year, Comcast hosts Lab Week, which brings employees from across departments and locations to create, cooperate, and code together. Teams work from Monday to Thursday to sketch out their ideas into full-fledged presentations; on Friday, there’s a Science Fair where everyone displays what they’ve come up with. Our middle-school selves could’ve never imagined science fairs this cool.
The company’s overall culture is just as dynamic and innovative. All ideas are important, whether they come from a junior employee or the CEO.
“Doing well here means having a really good balance of a being a self-starter,” says Lisa Hoppes, senior information architect. “It’s about thinking of a new way to do something, raising it as a possibility, and being given the green light to approach something in a way that makes the most sense.”
Between the challenging, ever-changing work and the constant opportunities to leave your mark, Comcast is the perfect place for people who want their jobs to excite them.
