Finding a job when you’ve decided to change career paths is tricky. You know it’s time to finally enter the field you’re truly passionate about, but how do you do it when you have close-to-zero (okay, zero) experience in the industry?
Thankfully, our partner companies have plenty of jobs that value your transferrable skills and ability to learn more than the relevant experience on your resume. Don’t let the lack of expertise stop you from applying, because the requirements for these positions focus on what you can bring to the table—not what you can’t.
1. Entry-Level Business Development Associate
TripBuilder Media, Westport, CT
With major clients like Microsoft, American Express, and Pepsi, TripBuilder Media is revolutionizing the event space by enabling event planners and event attendees to create active connections through innovative mobile apps. The company is seeking an entry-level sales associate to handle everything from identifying new business prospects to targeting them through email and telephone. No prior sales, marketing, or mobile experience is required for the position, so you’re welcome to apply regardless of your background!
2. Adjunct Faculty
Dyn, Manchester, NH
A cloud-based internet performance company, Dyn is delivering clients and companies top-notch online experiences. In late 2013, Dyn University was established to ensure that its employees receive the training they need to do their job as efficiently as possible. If you’re experienced in Java or Python and are hoping to move away from engineering roles and into an educational one, here’s your chance. Dyn has openings for adjunct faculty who have the knowledge to design and teach face-to-face programming courses once a week for 10-12 weeks.
GLG provides professional educational platforms that connect industry experts, changing the way the world’s business leaders learn and share information. The company’s Associate program in Dublin involves a fast-paced progression through its global market-making operation. You’ll be doing everything from analyzing client inquiries to identifying primary populations of topic experts. The only job requirement is that you have a bachelor’s or master’s degree (or equivalent work experience). Beyond that, things like fluency in a foreign language, six months or more of post-university internship experience, and strong problem-solving skills will only strengthen your application.
4. Entry-Level Developer
Thoughtworks, the company providing revolutionary technology, consulting, and software delivery to numerous global clients, is committed to hiring candidates who want to address challenging problems and explore new domains alongside equally intelligent people. As an Entry-Level Developer in the Associate Consultant Program, you’ll be immersed in a five-week training course devoted to a project simulation. Having a computer science degree is a great prerequisite, but Thoughtworks assures that, as long as you like to write code, the company’s not going to rule you out for not having one. So, if you’re changing careers and are a self-taught programmer, then definitely check out the application.
5. Account Manager
Nestio, New York
A venture-backed startup, Nestio is transforming the residential real estate industry through communicative technology. The company is offering landlords, property managers, and agents the ability to manage and communicate information in real-time. Nestio is currently seeking an Account Manager who will best assist and ensure that its growing client base is effectively onboarded, trained, and happy. Consider applying if you’re a proactive self-starter who takes initiative and a true people person who loves building and maintaining relationships.
6. UX Designer
Okta, San Francisco
If you’ve always been proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator, and similar graphic design tools but never had a chance to showcase these skills, you should consider the UX Designer opening at Okta. Okta is an integrated identity and mobility management service that simply connects people to their applications from any device, anywhere, at any time. As the User Experience Designer, you’ll develop mockups and prototypes to effectively communicate interaction and collaborate with a cross-functional team to define the mental mode for new and existing Okta products.
7. Data Analyst

A full service marketing communications agency, Gravity is committed to solving complex business challenges to create growth opportunities for clients. The company’s hiring a Data Analyst whose responsibilities include integrating marketing campaign and performance data and conducting analyses that result in actionable insights and data-driven recommendations. You’re encouraged to apply if you have a bachelor’s degree in math, statistics, finance, economics, or something else equally quantitative.
8. Project Coordinator
GA Communication Group, Chicago
GA Communication Group is a full-service healthcare marketing communications agency creating effective, educational, and easy-to-understand branding and marketing campaigns. As the Project Coordinator, you’ll be responsible for assisting in every stage of projects from job opening to job completion on specifically assigned client accounts.
