Lead Data Engineer, VP - State Street Global Advisors

Who we are looking for

State Street Global Advisors is looking for a strong hands on Lead Data Engineer with 10+ years of experience. The ideal candidate should have strong experience in Applications Architecture, Data Engineering, Design and Development and have prior tech lead experience. The candidate will play a key role in developing software solutions for key growth initiatives in Portfolio Exposures area. The candidate will be working with various cross functional teams globally such as Enterprise Architecture, Database Architects, Business Analysts, QA and Infrastructure teams. This position is in Boston, MA and due to the role requirements the job needs to be performed frequently in office with some flex opportunities available.

As Lead Data Engineer, Vice President you will:

• Architect, design, develop and maintain data engineering solutions primarily utilizing Python, SQL and Apache Spark based platforms

• Define and implement automation of workflows in Databricks, AWS and On-Prem

• Perform data modeling and design tables/views for data warehouses

• Participate in scope definition, requirements analysis, functional and technical design following the Agile methodologies

• Co-ordinate with various cross functional teams globally such as business users, developers, testers, enterprise architects, database architects and infrastructure teams

• Lead and mentor junior developers in the team

• Provide technical subject matter expertise

These skills will help you succeed in this role

• Strong in Python. SQL and Apache Spark

• Strong in data modeling and database design

• Hands-on experience with Data Warehouses and other Cloud Databases

• Experience in leading junior developers

• Experience with Big Data platforms such as Databricks is a plus

• Experience in Cloud Computing specifically AWS is a plus

• Experience with Continuous Integration and Development (CI/CD) stack

• Familiarity with Shell scripting and Job Scheduling knowledge is a plus

• Familiarity with Oracle PL/SQL and Java is a plus

• Strong interest in working on new technologies and tools

• Strong critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

• Financial services industry experience especially in asset management is a plus

Education & Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or equivalent field is required

• Minimum 10+ years experience required in software development and maintenance

• AWS Certification and Databricks Certification are a plus
