As a Technical Director, you'll lead the strategies and activities of the sales center to facilitate and improve the sales process. You'll advise sales efforts and be responsible for implementation and performance of sales strategies.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Directs the strategies and activities of sales center or support functions to facilitate and improve the sales process.

  • Represents the business unit on internal management teams, sub-committee management teams, and product development, implementation, administration, and other teams to arrive at business line strategies. Assumes lead-role when appropriate.

  • Works closely with sales executives to assess current organizational sales capabilities and make sound recommendations for improving sales effectiveness and execution. Assists in developing sales strategy for specific products and services.

  • Establishes and manages relationships with wholesalers, producing agents/brokers, various investment providers and Nationwide.

  • Troubleshoots and expedites resolution of problems for distribution channel partners in matters of licensing, underwriting, accounting, administration and performance.

  • Researches sophisticated, technical questions related to products or distribution.

  • Develops budgets, plans and programs. Assists in setting quotas. Implements programs. Administers and monitors approved budget.

  • Supervises training of sales personnel. Prepares formal speeches and assumes lead role in ad-hoc discussions during this training.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to Sales Director or Officer.

Typical Skills and Experiences:

Education: Undergraduate degree in business, marketing, economics, insurance or related field. Graduate studies preferred.

License/Certification/Designation: Associates must obtain the required Federal and/or state licenses/registrations within the time period designated by the business unit. Additional licenses/registrations may be required when new products and services are implemented. If an associate fails or is unable to obtain required licenses/registrations within the time period designated by the business unit, the associate will be ineligible to continue in the position. NOTE: A credit check may be required if a license is required for this position.

Experience: Ten years managing sales programs within a call center, sales support, marketing or direct selling environment.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Knowledge of sales management, call center, and/or sales support practices and procedures, and assigned products and distribution relationships. Excellent verbal and written communication skills for internal/external contacts. Ability to analyze producer's needs, recommend products and determine training.

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence. 

Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager’s leader and HR Business Partner.
