Kernel Technical Lead Manager, Pixel Core Platform

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • Typically 8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).

  • Typically 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role, overseeing projects, with 2 years of experience in a people management, supervision/team leadership role.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Master's degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Typically 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, and/or cross-business projects.

Pixel System Software works closely with Android Platform, Pixel Hardware, and external partner teams on delivering the latest Google Pixel devices and Google Tensor System on Chip with the best Android experience. Our Core Platform team is responsible for the system software including bootloader, kernel, and Android.

The Google Pixel team focuses on designing and delivering the world's most helpful mobile experience. The team works on shaping the future of Pixel devices and services through some of the most advanced designs, techniques, products, and experiences in consumer electronics. This includes bringing together the best of Google's artificial intelligence, software, and hardware to build global smartphones and create transformative experiences for users across the world.

Responsibilities

  • Lead team in software planning and development of kernel platform and device drivers.
  • Own and deliver core platform drivers and features in the areas of PCIE, I2C/I3C, UART, SPI, PWM, GPIO, interrupts.
  • Collaborate with Android Common Kernel and upstream Linux.
  • Participate in bring-up of new Pixel devices from SoC development boards to prototyping to mass production.
  • Design and implement software solutions for new SoC features in areas such as interconnect, boot, reset, memory, high speed IO, low speed IO, interrupt controller, and security.
