Embedded Senior Software Engineer, Core Platform

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, and with data structures/algorithms.
  
• 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
  
• 3 years of experience working with embedded operating systems.
  

Preferred qualifications:

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  
• 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.
  
• 
  Experience developing accessible technologies.

Pixel System Software works closely with Android Platform, Pixel Hardware, gChips, and external partner teams on delivering the latest Google Pixel devices and Google Tensor System on Chip with the best Android experience.

Our Core Platform team is responsible for the system software including bootloader, kernel, and Android.

The Google Pixel team focuses on designing and delivering the world's most helpful mobile experience. The team works on shaping the future of Pixel devices and services through some of the most advanced designs, techniques, products, and experiences in consumer electronics. This includes bringing together the best of Google's artificial intelligence, software, and hardware to build global smartphones and create transformative experiences for users across the world.

Responsibilities

• Lead team in software planning and development of bootloader and firmware.
• Own and deliver bootloader and firmware features in C and Rust in areas of memory subsystem and debug.
• Participate in bringing up new Pixel devices from SoC development boards to prototyping to mass production.
• Design and implement software solutions for new SoC features in areas such as interconnect, boot, reset, memory, high speed IO, low speed IO, interrupt controller, and security.
• Design and implement debug and analytics solutions. Debug difficult issues involving software, hardware, and SoC.
