We're seeking a future team member for the role of Legal Counsel to join our Poland Legal team as part of the wider EMEA Legal Department. This role is located in Wroclaw, Poland- HYBRID
In this role, you'll make an impact in the following ways:
- Act as senior lawyer responsible for legal coverage over BNY Mellon's presence in Poland, which comprises the Polish corporate entity and the BNY Mellon European Bank Poland branch.
- Working closely with broader EMEA Legal colleagues and external law firms, handling a portfolio of basic to moderately complex legal issues, providing legal advice and counsel to internal management. This will include, but not be limited to, the following areas of legal practice: Labour and Employment; Governance and Corporate Secretary; Banking and Financial Markets Regulation; Commercial Law; and Real Estate.
- Viewed as a trusted internal partner to the Poland site, including in interactions with senior branch colleagues, site management and corporate board members.
- Oversee relationships with key Polish legal vendors, including local law firms.
- Proactively communicate with EMEA Legal colleagues on a timely and relevant basis, ensuring that subject matter experts are engaged in issues and Legal management across the EMEA region are kept informed as matters evolve.
- Polish-qualified legal advisor who is fluent (written and verbal) in Polish and English.
- 5 years minimum of total work experience as a qualified legal advisor.
- Good understanding of Polish labour and employment law.
- Knowledge of company law and/or governance and banking regulation in Polish jurisdiction.
- Experience of frequent interactions with senior stakeholders, with gravitas to maintain credibility with different stakeholders.
- Ability to work autonomously.
- Intellectually curious, adaptable, and interested in learning new skills.
- Willing to embrace and engage in developing a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion.
- Highly collaborative and strong communication skills.
