This piece was originally composed by George Frederick Handel (1685-1759) as part of his Eight Great Suites for Harpsichord. It's the last movement of Suite No. 5 in E Major (HWV 430) and consists of a theme (Air) and 5 variations of the theme. My transcription of this well-known tune is for a classical orchestra consisting of 2 flutes, 2 oboes, 2 clarinets, 2 bassoons, 2 horns, 2 trumpets, timpani and strings. There are a number of places where I made alterations in the music to (hopefully) achieve a better orchestral sound. My score is not yet posted because I haven't finished all the phrasing. But it soon will be. |
